New Stamp Duty Rates Announced in Budget 2010

The chancelor Alistair Darling announced a stamp duty holiday for first time buyers as well as a new rate for homes valued at over £1 million in his last budget before this years general election. The Tories have been saying they would have a £250,000 threshold (ie: paying 0% for homes valued up to £250,000) and now Labour have effectively stolen one of their policies… The latest rates can be view on this website and you can see just how rates have changed over the past 30 years or so.
